Cookie

This is the cookie policy for [www.htc.com] (“ Cookie Policy ”). It applies to information collected and used by HTC Corporation and related companies (“we,” “our” or “us”), when you access and use our website. This information is collected through instruments known as Cookies and various other technologies used to set and interact with cookies on our site, including tools such as pixel tags and web beacons. The term “related companies” means HTC Corporation, HTC America, Inc., HTC Europe Ltd. Inc and HTC affiliates which collect and process your personal information in the countries you are located.

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies we use and why, and what you can do to manage your cookie preferences. Where any information we collect through cookies qualifies as personal data, our Privacy Policy applies to the collection and use of that data. Please review this Cookie Policy and our Privacy Policy carefully.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. This small text file may include a unique identifier that distinguishes your computer or mobile device from other devices. We use the term "cookies" in this Policy to refer to website cookies and also to similar technologies that may collect information automatically when you visit our sites (such as pixel tags and web beacons).

Source and categories of Cookies

Our Cookies are either first party or third party. Whether a Cookie is ‘first’ or ‘third’ party depends on the website or domain placing the Cookie. In the context of this Cookie Policy first party Cookies are Cookies set by us and all the information collected from such Cookies are received by us, while third party Cookies are set by other parties we do business with. These parties may place unique Cookies on your browser when you visit our website, to collect information about your use of the website and possibly other online activities over time and across different websites and apps. These third parties collect data directly from your web browser and the processing of this data is subject to their own privacy policies.

First or third party Cookies are classed as either ‘persistent’ or ‘session’ Cookies depending on their duration:

  • Persistent cookies are stored on your device in between browser sessions and allow your preferences or actions across our websites (or in some cases across different websites) to be remembered. Persistent Cookies may be used for a variety of purposes including remembering your preferences and choices when using our site or to target advertising. These Cookies do not expire once the browsing session closes and remain on your device until an expiration date set by the source of the Cookie, unless you disable this.
  • Session Cookies allow us link your actions during a single browsing session. A session starts when you open a browser window and ends when the browser window is closed, following which all session cookies are deleted. We may use these Cookies for a variety of purposes such as remembering what you clicked on, on the previous page visited.

How to control cookies

Enabling cookies is not strictly necessary for the website to work but it will provide you with a better browsing experience and allow us and our third party partners to ensure that content we display, advertisements you see online, and marketing messages are more relevant to you and your interests. You can delete or block these Cookies, but if you do this, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit our website and some features of the site may not work as intended.

The following are examples of how you can manage or delete many of the cookies served through our sites:

Cookie opt-out links  You may manage or opt-out of certain uses of many cookies served through our sites by using the links provided above.
Industry opt-out sites  You may also opt-out of certain use of many cookies served for advertising purposes by many of HTC’s third party advertising partners by visiting either:

https://optout.aboutads.info/?c=2#!/ or https://optout.networkadvertising.org/#!/
Browser settings  Many web browsers accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually change your browser's settings to reject and/or to remove many cookies. If you use different devices to view and access our website (e.g. your computer, smartphone, tablet etc) you will need to ensure that each browser on each device is adjusted to suit your Cookie preferences.

Click here for more information on Cookies and how to manage them.

E-mail tracking

We may also use cookies or similar e-mail tracking technologies to monitor the success of e-mail campaigns we operate (for example, recording how many e-mails in a campaign were opened, the IP address, browser or email client types which the emails were read). If you do not want us to track emails we send you, some email services let you change your display to turn off HTML or disable download of images and exercising these rights should effectively disable our email tracking. In addition, you may also unsubscribe from our marketing emails as described in those emails.

Do Not Track

Some Internet browsers include the ability to transmit “Do Not Track” signals. Since uniform standards for “Do Not Track” signals have not been adopted, HTC does not currently process or respond to “Do Not Track” signals. To learn more about “Do Not Track,” please visit " All About Do Not Track ".

In addition to “Do Not Track,” there are many ways that web browser signals and similar mechanisms can indicate your tracking choices, and we may not be aware of nor honor every mechanism.
