Explore Monet’s paintings from the perspective you don’t have in real life.
Paris, we’ve got something really special for you this summer: “Claude Monet, Water Lilies Obsession”, a virtual reality experience by Nicolas Thépot. Developed by Lucid Realities, this VR journey takes you through themes of time, art-making, the present moment, and life. In the VR you will travel over Monet’s studio, immerse yourself in a conversation between the artist and his childhood friend, statesman George Clemenceau, and explore the stunning visuals of Monet’s paintings from the point of view we don’t have in real life.
Claude Monet was a visionary whose groundbreaking approach to perceiving colour and understanding light transformed the history of painting. As both an artist and a passionate botanist, Monet designed his famous garden in Giverny. This wasn’t just any garden – it was a place where he studied botanic crossbreeding and collected rare, colourful water lilies that inspired over 250 of his paintings. His garden became a unique space for contemplation, experimentation with his visual method, and reflection on the tragedy of the First World War.
“Claude Monet, Water Lilies Obsession” lets you explore Monet’s paintings like never before. You will get up close to the multilayered surfaces of his paintings, the brushstrokes, the spirit of his art. With dynamic camera angles, you can dive into the beauty of nature’s seasonal changes and get a deeper look into Monet’s creative process. George Lepauw’s music adds another dimension to the visuals, making this VR experience truly touch your emotions. It’s an immersive journey that brings Monet’s artistic vision to life.
Don’t miss a chance to step into Claude Monet’s universe both in the physical and virtual realms, at Musée de l'Orangerie until 1 September 2024!
