, Musée de l’Orangerie, Paris
The new exhibition Monet, painting time celebrates the centenary of the death of the painter Claude Monet (1840-1926) by focusing on the relationship between his work and time. A selection of nearly 40 of Monet’s paintings, mostly from the Musée d’Orsay’s and Musée Marmottan Monet’s collections, along with loans from French and international public and private collections, highlights the evolution of Monet’s work, with particular emphasis on the Nymphéas (Water Lilies).
With the participation of VIVE Arts, exhibition visitors have the chance to engage in the VR experience Claude Monet – Along the Water, produced by Lucid Realities and Musée de l'Orangerie. Narrated through excerpts of his correspondence with his old friend George Clémenceau and his daughter-in-law Blanche, the 20-minute experience takes visitors on a journey through Monet’s works, his research on representations of water, his Giverny home, and his fight against blindness, which influenced his painting style.
Put on a virtual reality headset and embark on a unique sensory journey into the visual world of the Impressionist master. From the meandering Seine to the water garden at Giverny, journey through 50 years of an extraordinary creative endeavor and gain a unique insight into Claude Monet’s lifelong obsession with water, its shifting reflections and the transparency of its surface.
This immersive project accompanies the exhibition Monet, Painting Time and draws on the virtual reality experience Claude Monet, The Water Lilies Obsession, produced by Lucid Realities in 2018 and presented at the Musée de l’Orangerie in 2018 and 2024.
