Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster: Alienarium 5

, Serpentine Galleries, London

Renowned French artist Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster is celebrated with a major solo exhibition at the Serpentine this summer. This show reflects on the artist’s long-term interest and explorations into science-fiction and alien life with new works. Space outside and inside the museum become ground for encounters, both immersive and speculative. This exciting exhibition is conceived especially for the Serpentine with mainly new artworks. This exhibition is curated by Claude Adjil.

We are delighted to collaborate with the artist a second time to present this brand-new VR commission supported by VIVE Arts and developed by Lucid Realities, featuring an exciting multi-player, immersive and interactive setting. Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster brings a poetic and uniquely personal touch to commanding the possibilities of VR that is truly inspiring. She continues to push the boundaries of art’s encounter with technology. Alienarium is an uncanny and unforgettable experience where one comes to embody another abstract form and engages with other aliens in an ethereal and sensational ambience where all our senses are heightened.

“Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster is an artist synonymous with experimentation, whose career has spanned decades of research into sensorial and existential dimensions of human life,” states the Serpentine’s CEO Bettina Korek and Artistic Director Hans Ulrich Obrist.
